The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs refused to say whether President Xi Jinping would meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi or Russian President Vladimir Putin during the Regional Security Block of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) this week. The Summit will take place in Uzbekistan starting September 15.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was asked about XI’s plan during the daily news briefing on Tuesday. Chinese President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan this week – his first journey abroad since the early days of Pandemi Coronavirus.
Sco Beijing-Headquartered consists of China, Russia, India, Pakistan, and four Central-Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. This is the largest regional organization in the world, which covers around 60% of the Eurasian region, 40% of the world population, and more than 30% of global GDP.
During the summit, leaders are expected to review organizational activities over the past two decades and discuss the country and the prospects of multilateral cooperation. Topical problems from regional and global interests are also expected to be discussed at the meeting. Prime Minister Modi is also likely to hold several bilateral meetings during the peaks.
