Danish journalist Siddiqui, who lost his life when covering the conflict situation in Afghanistan, has been awarded Pulitzer prizes for photography features for its coverage of the Covid situation in India. Together with him, journalist Reuters Adnan Abidi, Sanna Irshad Mattoo, and Amit Dave were also honored by the Pulitzer prize.
Denmark Siddiqui is the main photographer for Reuters, based in India. He graduated with a title in the economic field from Jamia Millia Islamia, where he would later continue his post-graduate studies in mass communication. He received the 2018 Pulitzer prize for feature photography, as part of a photographer team, to document the Rohingya refugee crisis.
In 2021, he was killed while covering a clash between the Afghan security forces and the Taliban troops at SPIN Boldak, near the Pakistani border. Siddiqui was abandoned by his two children and his wife, a German citizen.
As a photo journalist, Denmark Siddiqui discussed various problems around the world. Some of his main works include covering the war in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Rohingya refugee crisis, Hong Kong’s protests and Nepal earthquakes.
