COVID-19: Gov Zulum Distributes Food material to IDPs

The Governor of Borno state, Babagana Zulum has today distributed food items and cash to 11,000 Internally Displaced Person(IDPs) in Magumeri Local Government Area of the state. 

The Governor said the Distribution of food to the displaced people is to alleviate their hardship, as the country is faced with the coronavirus hence the lockdown in the state.

While about 6,000 women received N5,000, with wrapper materials each, 5,000 men who were head of various households received a bag of rice and maize, as well as three litres of cooking oil each.

The governor who supervised the distribution of the materials urged residents to maintain personal hygiene, ensure social distancing, avoid unnecessary gatherings and travelling to curb the spread of COVID-19.

He also urged them to take responsibility in the fight against coronavirus while warning them against the dangers of the virus.

”We are all aware of the enormous challenges Borno is already faced with. As a responsible government, we are doing everything possible to contain this virus from spreading in our state.

“However, this can only be achieved with your cooperation,” Zulum said.

Governor Zulum who was accompanied by the Member Representing Magumeri at the Borno state Assembly, Audu Mustapha, the Chairperson of the State Emergency Management Agency, (SEMA), Hajiya Yabawa Kolo, and other senior government officials in the state, also paid a visit to troops fighting Boko Haram at Magumeri.

The governor directed the renovation of the health and education facilities destroyed by the insurgents after assessing the level of destruction.

He also interacted with the troops fighting the Boko haram and commended the Nigerian military for their resilience to end the Boko Haram insurgency.
